Hampshire born and bred, Helen started her career at the Chandlers Ford branch of Midland bank in the late 1980’s, mainly because she was good at maths at school! Happily we think she made the right choice as she soon started to show an aptitude for financial services…. Over the years Helen moved from a generalised banking role, firstly into specialist mortgage advice at The Mortgage Shop and then back into a more general financial advisory role at Rossborough and then Hepburns, who later merged with Advisa Financial Services.
Helen is our Managing Director and juggles the responsibilities of running the business with the management of her client book and obsessively correcting grammar. Helen is also in charge of Compliance for de Carteret Wealth which suits her bossy personality!
A founder member of de Carteret Wealth, Helen then completed a Management Buy Out in November 2018 with Shani Clark.
In her spare time Helen is usually found either on the golf course, in her garden or in the Soprano section of Les Conteurs singers. She also has a close association with the Jersey Cheshire home, is a steward at St Aubin Methodist church and volunteers with the Jersey Street Pastors. From time to time she has also been known to be found slumped on the sofa clutching a glass of red!
Helen’s qualifications
Helen is one of our authorised Investment Advisers which means that she holds a ‘level 4’ qualification standard in line with the Jersey Financial Services Commission’s Code of Practise (last revised July 2016).
Helen holds the following qualifications;
BSc (Hons) ALIBF
This qualification was obtained via the Institute of Financial Services, in 1998. In achieving this qualification, Helen gained a 2nd class Honours degree in Financial Services from the University of Manchester.
Cert PFS
Originally known as the Financial Planning certificate, this is a specialist qualification for financial advisers
MAQ
This is a specialist qualification for Mortgage Advisers
ICA Certificate in Compliance
Reflecting her role as Compliance Officer, Helen achieved the Certificate of Compliance, with Merit, in 2015.
